At Safe Transport Victoria (ST Vic), we’re committed to working collaboratively with industry, advocacy organisations, special interest groups and the broader community to better understand the experiences of people who rely on taxis and rideshare services every day.

Meaningful engagement with industry, passengers and community stakeholders plays an important role in shaping a safer, more accessible and inclusive Commercial Passenger Vehicle (CPV) industry.

These conversations help identify safety, accessibility and customer service issues that may otherwise go unnoticed, ensuring they can be considered as part of ongoing improvements across the industry.

People with disability, those with accessibility needs, and assistance animal handlers provide valuable lived experience that helps inform practical, meaningful change. Their insights help us better understand the barriers some passengers face and how we can work with industry to improve the travelling experience for all Victorians.

This collaborative approach supports our ongoing commitment to a transport system that is safe, accessible and inclusive.

In August, we will again be running our Drive with Heart program. The initiative aims to increase understanding of the rights of assistance animal handlers and reinforce drivers’ legal obligations.

This year, the campaign will be rolled out in New South Wales, Western Australia and the ACT. And for the second year running, we are proud to be working with Guide Dogs Victoria on this important project.

By working together with industry and the community, we can continue to improve accessibility and help ensure every Victorian can travel with confidence, dignity and respect.

Your feedback helps us identify issues and support a safer, fairer and more inclusive commercial passenger vehicle industry. If you are refused service because of your assistance animal, or have concerns about your experience, please report it through our complaints page or by calling 1800 638 802.
