Transport Safety Victoria (TSV) welcomes the appointment of Cameron Toy as Director, Transport Safety. Cameron replaces outgoing director Aaron de Rozario on 1 January 2021.
The office of the Director, Transport Safety is an independent statutory office of the Department of Transport, established under the Transport Integration Act 2010, and appointed by the Governor in Council. Mr Toy’s appointment was finalised on 22 December.
Mr Toy brings a wealth of experience within the transport safety portfolio in Victoria, with more than 20 years’ experience in regulatory compliance and policy across policing, fisheries and maritime security.
His most recent role was as TSV’s Director, Maritime Safety, a position he held since November 2019, following an acting arrangement.
Earlier this year, Mr Toy was appointed short term to the position of Commander – Operations for the High-Risk Industries Engagement and Enforcement with Department of Justice and Community Safety, with a focus on the government’s coronavirus (COVID-19) response.
Mr de Rozario will return full-time to his substantive position as CEO of Commercial Passenger Vehicles Victoria (CPVV), to oversee ongoing efforts to ensure commercial passenger vehicles remain COVIDSafe in 2021.
TSV thanks Mr de Rozario for his tenure and will continue to work in partnership with him and CPVV to ensure ongoing regulation of commercial passenger vehicles across the state.
