Arthurs Seat’s new chairlift, the Eagle, has recently commenced operation at this popular Mornington Peninsula tourist destination.
The Eagle carries passengers in a state of the art gondola from the base station in Dromana to the summit of Arthurs Seat.
During this journey the chairlift passes over sections of the roadway that winds its way from the base to the summit.
Prior to the chairlift commencing operation TSV was contacted by a local bus operator who was concerned that the chairlift could present an overhead hazard to large buses using Arthurs Seat Road.
Bus Safety Compliance Officer Sue Hoskins was tasked with looking into this matter. Following Sue’s investigation, TSV is happy to report that the Eagle Skylift has more than adequate clearance for buses to pass safely beneath the chairlift, even during periods of summer heat.
TSV would like to thank Nicholas Zoides from Parks Victoria, Wayne Harley from Harley’s Bus Lines and Madeline Caryle from Driver Group for their assistance during TSV’s investigation.
