Changes to the Bus Safety Act 2009 and the Bus Safety Regulations 2020, saw the two-tier regulatory scheme for bus operators (registered and accredited) change into a one-tier scheme.
From 1 March 2022, bus operator registration is no longer applicable. Previously registered operators are now either automatically accredited, or, in some cases, exempt from the requirements of accreditation.
If you’re a bus operator in the education sector you’re invited to attend any of the industry specific online information sessions to hear about how previously registered bus operators can meet the new requirements. You will be provided with clear guidance about what has changed, what remains the same, and what education sector bus operators new to the accredited scheme need to do.
