Safe Transport Victoria (ST Vic) made a splash at this year’s Melbourne International Boat Show, captivating maritime enthusiasts and industry professionals with an interactive stand brimming with activities and giveaways.

Our team was on deck to help boaters, jet skiers, kayakers, and stand-up paddleboarders gear up for a safe return to the water for the 2024 boating season.

The event was the perfect backdrop to launch our “Back to Basics” program and announce our exciting new partnership with the maritime app DECKEE. This app that provides boaters information on safety equipment and waterway rules that, relevant to their location and vessel type. It also allows us to send out notifications to boaters in real time and integrates our existing boat ramp cameras.

Weekend Highlights
Around 38,000 people attended the three-and-a-half-day event, and our stand was a hive of activity.

Visitors to our stall took part in the thrilling “Ready, Set, Vest” game, where attendees raced against each other—and the clock—to correctly put on a life jacket. Maritime enthusiasts also tested their knowledge at our “Captain’s Challenge” quiz, adding a fun twist to learning about boating safety.

We also held daily safety presentations on the main stage covering safety equipment and proper lifejacket wear.

We’d like to acknowledge our key industry partners, including the Boating Industry Association of Victoria (BIAV), Fisheries, NSW Maritime Transport, Parks Victoria, Ports Victoria, and the Coast Guard. We look forward to future collaborations to promote maritime safety!
