The Public Register is an online tool that can be used to search CPV industry service providers, including:

  • drivers
  • driving instructors’ vehicles currently registered as CPVs
  • booking service providers (BSPs).

Changes to the Public Register

From 1 July 2026, the Public Register now includes details of disciplinary actions that ST Vic has taken against duty holders (CPV drivers, vehicle owners and booking service providers).

The Register will now show:

  • Suspended or cancelled duty holders, as well as those with active registration.
  • Disciplinary action taken by ST Vic or the courts, with a brief description of the conduct that led to the action.

Important to know:

  • Only actions taken from 1 July 2026 will be shown on the register.
  • Actions will only be shown once all rights of appeal timeframes have been exhausted.
  • You can request for a record to be removed if you feel it has been published in error. Use the form below to request a removal or exemption.
  • Records will be removed from the Register by ST Vic at an appropriate timeframe relevant to the seriousness of the offence.
  • Warnings, infringements and education actions will not be published.

What can I search for?

Topic Description
Vehicles
  • You can confirm if a vehicle is registered as a CPV.
  • If a vehicle is registered as a CPV, the plate number and service types will display on the Public Register.
  • If a vehicle is not registered as a CPV, no information will be displayed.
Drivers
  • You can confirm if a driver is accredited or suspended.
  • If a driver is accredited, their accreditation number, name and whether they can provide wheelchair accessible services will appear on the Public Register.
  • If a driver is suspended, this information will also be displayed.
  • If a driver has had their accreditation cancelled due to action by ST Vic, this information will be displayed.
  • If a driver is not accredited, no information will be displayed.
  • From 1 July 2026, where a formal disciplinary action has been taken against a driver, the Public Register will also display the disciplinary outcome and a short description of the conduct.
Booking service providers (BSPs)
  • You can confirm if a BSP is registered.
  • If a BSP is registered, their name and contact details will appear on the Public Register.
  • If a BSP is not registered, no information will be displayed.
  • From 1 July 2026, where a formal disciplinary action has been taken against a BSP, the Public Register will also display the disciplinary outcome and a short description of the conduct.
Driving instructors
  • You can confirm the authorisation status of a driving instructor.
  • If a driving instructor is authorised, their authorisation number and endorsements will appear on the Public Register.
  • If a driving instructor is not authorised, no information will be displayed.

How to use the register

Topic Description
Vehicles Type the number plate of the vehicle (as issued by VicRoads).
Drivers Type the six-digit driver accreditation number (no letters). For drivers of unbooked vehicles (taxis), this number is displayed on the photo identification card affixed to the dashboard. For drivers of booked (rideshare) vehicles, this number is provided through the app when you book your trip.
Booking service providers (BSPs) Start typing the name of the BSP. You must type at least three characters.
Driving Instructors Type the six-digit authorisation number of the driving instructor authority.

What if my search was unsuccessful?

If the search is not successful, this can be due to either:

  • the number or name you entered being incorrect
  • the vehicle, driver, BSP or driving instructor searched is not active in CPV records.

What if I don't want to be listed on the Public Register?

Service providers and driving instructors can write to Safe Transport Victoria to restrict access to their information on the Public Register.

An application to restrict public access must be supported by evidence. If we are satisfied there are exceptional circumstances that justify the restriction, an application may be approved.
