Application for a Pilotage Exemption Certificate

A certified copy of your valid certificate of competency as a Master Class 1 issued by AMSA or an equivalent certificate of competency issued by a Flag State that is party to the International Convention on Standards of Training Certification and Watchkeeping of Seafarers 1995 and is formally recognised by AMSA.

A certified copy of your Medical Examination, in accordance with Clause 4.2.3 of the Marine Standard.

A certified copy of your Eyesight Examination, in accordance with Clause 4.2.4 of the Marine Standard.

A copy of the record of Qualifying Trips (with a Pilot embarked) as recorded in an Excel spreadsheet and copies of trip dockets provided by the pilotage service provider.

A letter or document signed by a tug master confirming tug boat observer requirements have been met.

A letter or document, signed by the relevant Harbour Masters office representative confirming your visit to receive instructions in the operational procedures of that port.

A letter from the owner or manager of the Vessel, confirming that you are, or you are intended to be, Master of that Vessel. The letter must also include a testimonial with regards to your experience, ability and good conduct within the twelve (12) month period that immediately precedes the date of application.

Photos must be less than 12 months old, showing a full front view of your head and shoulders without any head covering or tinted glasses. If you wear a head covering for religious reasons, a photograph showing your facial features is acceptable. If you normally wear prescription glasses, you must be wearing glasses with untinted lenses. The photograph must have a plain and lightly coloured background.
