Application for renewal of a Pilotage Exemption Certificate

Use this form to renew your existing Pilot Exemption Certificate (PEC). Renewal applications must be submitted before your current PEC expires.

A PEC may be issued to a master of a vessel over 35 metres that is regularly visiting the Port of Melbourne, the Port of Geelong, the Port of Hastings, the Port of Portland or any other Victorian port subject to pilotage.

A certified copy of your valid certificate of competency as a Master Class 1 issued by AMSA or an equivalent certificate of competency issued by a Flag State that is party to the International Convention on Standards of Training Certification and Watchkeeping of Seafarers 1995 and is formally recognised by AMSA.

    A letter from the owner or manager of the Vessel, confirming that you are, or you are intended to be, Master of that Vessel. The letter must also include a testimonial with regards to your experience, ability and good conduct within the twelve (12) month period that immediately precedes the date of application.

    Photos must be less than 12 months old, showing a full front view of your head and shoulders without any head covering or tinted glasses. If you wear a head covering for religious reasons, a photograph showing your facial features is acceptable. If you normally wear prescription glasses, you must be wearing glasses with untinted lenses. The photograph must have a plain and lightly coloured background.
