This form is used by waterway managers to notify Safe Transport Victoria of proposed works on, over or under the waters under their control to:

    • prohibit the navigation and other movement of vessels in the vicinity where works are being carried out (exclusion zone); and/or
    • regulate the position and the manner in which any vessel may anchor or be secured in the vicinity where works are being carried out

Where the term ‘waterway manager’ appears in this form, it includes a port management body, a local port manager or waterway manager.

A waterway manager can only issue a works notice in relation to the operation of vessels on waters under their control/

There is no fee to lodge this form.

If you do not submit this notification in excess of 10 business days prior to the proposed commencement date, your notification may be rejected and subsequently your commencement date will be deferred.

NOTICE CONTROLLING NAVIGATION IN THE VICINITY OF WORKS

[Waterway Manager], as the declared waterway manager for the waters of the [Waterway] makes the following notice under section 211(1)(b)(i) of the Marine Safety Act 2010 (Vic) (the Act).

For the purposes of the works activity proposed by [Applicant/organisation doing works] for [brief summary of works eg the construction of a bridge over the XX River], all vessels and persons are prohibited from entering or remaining in the waters detailed below, excluding vessels involved in the works.
